NEWSDate: Nov 21, 2011 Raiders move up in the National Rankings
With a 22-3-2-1 record, good enough for 47 points and tops in the CCHL, Nepean Raiders are now ranked 8th in the country in the Canadian Junior Hockey League rankings. The Raiders finished off another successful weekend by winning both games. Friday night, in front of nearly 1,000 fans in Brockville, the Raiders needed a third period comeback to beat the Brockville Braves 5-2. Backed by four goals in the third period, goaltender Matt Zawadzki made 37 saves, many of them difficult, to earn the win. On Sunday, showing their depth in nets, Dylan BrindAmour got the shutout as Nepean beat the Hawkesbury Hawks 3-0 at home. Goal scorers were Kenneth Neil with two while Ryan Johnston added another. The winning weekend sets up a huge home and home series this week with the Carleton Place Canadians who are second in the league overall. On Wednesday, the Raiders host the Canadians before travelling to Carleton Place Friday evening for what should be a great two game set. On Sunday afternoon, the Raiders are in Gloucester.
